3-Day Weekend in Saint-Jean-de-Luz
A family home in the heart of the Basque Coast
Saint-Jean-de-Luz a town you fall in love with at first sight—its harbor, its colorful narrow streets, its sheltered beaches, and its fine dining. But to truly enjoy it, you need to find the right place to stay. Parc Victoria that place: a 4-star hotel and residence that feels more like a family home than a hotel, nestled in a one-hectare park right in the heart of the city.
Day 1: Settle in, explore, and enjoy
As soon as you arrive at Parc Victoria, you’ll be struck by a unique sense of serenity. Behind the unassuming façade of the Victorian villa, built in 1880, lies a world of its own: a park spanning about one hectare, filled with two-hundred-year-old trees that filter the light, block out the noise of the city, and create a unique, unspoiled space—just for you.
Parc Victoria 13 rooms and suites in the main villa, as well as 12 apartments scattered throughout the estate in small, independent pavilions—ideal for those seeking even greater privacy. The rooms in the villa possess a charm that cannot be manufactured: warm tones, Art Deco-style furniture, and materials that tell the story of the place without ever seeming stuck in the past. Every detail has been carefully considered to make you feel at home from the very first moment.
During the day, just relax and do nothing in particular. The pool, nestled amid the park’s lush greenery, is the first place to stop. In the evening, explore the waterfront and the narrow streets of the old port, then come back for dinner at Jatera. Located by the pool with a view of the park, our restaurant lives up to its name: Jatera “let’s eat” in Basque. It’s a place for sharing, for gathering—and where we know how to make you feel welcome.
Day 2: Recharge your batteries, explore the area
In the morning, enjoy the wellness area at Parc Victoria massages, treatments, yoga classes in the garden… This is one of the real pleasures of staying here—being able to recharge your batteries without leaving the property, surrounded by nature that does all the work. For those who prefer to stay active, the gym is also available, and you can take a dip in the pool.
In the afternoon, hop on an electric bike—available for rent—to explore the surrounding area. Guéthary and its cliffs plunging into the ocean, Ciboure and its colorful harbor just across from Saint-Jean-de-Luz, or the hills of Urrugne inland: the Basque Coast unfolds mile after mile, between Labourd-style houses with red shutters and breathtaking panoramas. We return to Parc Victoria our appetites whetted, craving a cocktail at the bar under the trees, and the certainty that we’ve truly earned our dinner at Jatera
Day 3: Final moments—leave with a light heart
On our last morning, we resist the urge to pack up too quickly. A sumptuous breakfast buffet, one last cup of coffee in the gentle morning air, one more swim, and that stroll beneath the two-hundred-year-old trees that give Parc Victoria soul. It’s often right then that we start thinking about our next visit…
Before hitting the road again, a stop at the covered market in Saint-Jean-de-Luz . Bayonne ham, Ossau-Iraty cheese, Espelette pepper, homemade Basque cake… Everything you need to bring a little piece of the Basque Country home with you and extend the enjoyment of your trip just a little longer.
